Trump once boasted new Joint Chiefs chair told him 'I'll kill for you, sir': report

President Donald Trump's new chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff once told the MAGA leader, "I’ll kill for you, sir."

Trump fired General CQ Brown from the role late Friday as he tries to broadly reshape the military and its leadership. Brown's ouster, which drew swift backlash, came as Trump and his administration saw Brown as too focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion, or DEI, programs in the military.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth previously called for Brown's removal due to his involvement in DEI initiatives.

"But any general that was involved — general, admiral, whatever — that was involved in any of the DEI woke s--- has got to go," he said in a November appearance on the "Shawn Ryan Show." "Either you're in for warfighting, and that's it. That's the only litmus test we care about."

Additionally, his firing comes as the Trump administration seeks to install MAGA loyalists. And Brown's successor, John D. Caine, fits that description.

“Today, I am honored to announce that I am nominating Air Force Lieutenant General Dan ‘Razin’ Caine to be the next Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. “General Caine is an accomplished pilot, national security expert, successful entrepreneur, and a ‘warfighter’ with significant interagency and special operations experience.”

The Daily Beast noted Friday night that Trump previously shared that Caine told him, “I love you, sir. I think you’re great, sir. I’ll kill for you, sir.”

Caine also threw on a MAGA hat, flouting military protocol barring active-duty troops from wearing political attire.
