They didn't even show up!

Our closest friends recently got married and as a wedding gift I offered to make their wedding cake for their 100 guests. To make the experience special I did a cake tasting with a bunch of different flavours of cakes and icing combos which they loved.

6 weeks out from the wedding everything was confirmed, including no dietary requirements. Easy. I had taken two days off work before the wedding to get the cakes baked and decorated with just the final touches on the day. Perfect.

On the Thursday night (wedding was Saturday) I was told that their best man had met someone new and was bringing them to the wedding, however his new date was vegan, gluten and nut intolerant so would need an alternative cake. Mad scrambling I made a separate mini cake but needed to buy another $60 worth of alternative ingredients.

On the big day, everthing was perfect and I delivered both cakes. Then found out the groomsman decided it was too intense too soon therefore the dietary intolerant person never showed up to the wedding. I probably could have told you that and saved the extra hassle. The extra cake has been put in the freezer for the first anniversary so not all is lost.
