Dem stuns Trump defender with 'Why are you so insistent on dividing this country?'

During the panel segment on CNN's "State of the Union," Michigan State Senator Mallory McMorrow stunned a defender of Donald Trump with an accusation that he was engaged in an effort to pit Americans against each other.

This occurred during a discussion on the Signal chat scandal that is bedeviling the Trump administration after top White House officials engaged in banter on the Signal app prior to an attack on Yemen aimed at Houthi rebels while not realizing that a journalist was invited to listen in.

Of greater concern has been Defense Secretary Peter Hegseth detailing the attack plans before they happened that could have led to American military deaths.

That led CNN conservative regular Shermichael Singleton to reach back in the past to the Afghanistan conflict to diminish attacks on Hegseth and Trump's national security adviser Mike Waltz, both of whom are at the center of the scandal as calls for resignations grow.

Talking over McMorrow, he told her, "You have no ground to stand on to lecture us about what's going wrong here, when you guys had a catastrophic issue just three, four years ago."

After McMorrow interjected "Wait, wait wait," host Dana Bash gave her an opening to reply.

"Why are you so insistent on dividing this country?" she asked which led him to throw his head back and fire back, "I'm insistent on dividing the country?"

"It is about people that I am hearing from every single day," she lectured him. "People who are asking me, 'Is it safe for me to file my taxes?' Because if this is what they are going to do with sensitive military information, are they going to keep my Social Security? People are really worried."
