'Had enough!' MAGA businessman seeks to liberate Kentucky from 2 'McConnellites'

A wealthy MAGA-aligned businessman has entered the Kentucky Senate race to succeed Mitch McConnell, The New York Times reported on Friday.

Nate Morris, CEO of waste and recycling company Rubicon, announced his candidacy on the "Triggered" podcast hosted by President Donald Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr. Morris will face off against two more well-known political figures, Rep. Andy Barr (R-KY) and former state attorney general Daniel Cameron.

Even though Morris has less political clout than others in the race, he has branded himself as an unwavering supporter of Trump. He is also trying to cast his opponents as being cut from the same cloth as McConnell.

McConnell announced earlier this year that he would not seek re-election, ending his streak as the longest-serving Senator in Kentucky history.

“You’ve got two McConnellites that owe everything to Mitch McConnell versus the outside business guy that’s running as the MAGA candidate,” Morris said on the podcast. “I think that contrast is going to be very, very striking to Kentuckians all over the state because they’ve had enough. They’ve had enough of Mitch.”

Morris earned his political stripes working as an intern for McConnell and Rep. Anne Northup (R-KY), who left Congress in 2007. He has also worked in the Department of Homeland Security and helped raise funds for former President George Bush in 2004, the Times reported.

Morris has also described himself as an "America-First" Republican who opposed amnesty for immigrants and wants to prevent schools from "indoctrinating" children with "woke propaganda."
