Trump hits 'cost-cutting Republicans' with a warning: 'Don't go too crazy'
Donald Trump on Sunday said that "cost-cutting Republicans," a moniker with which the president self-identifies, must be careful.
The comment comes amid active discussions surrounding the senate's version of what Trump has called the "big, beautiful" spending package.
GOP lawmakers have fought internally due to requests from deficit hawks in the party.
Trump appeared to address that issue over the weekend, weighing in on his own social media site, Truth Social.
"For all cost cutting Republicans, of which I am one, REMEMBER, you still have to get reelected," Trump wrote. "Don’t go too crazy! We will make it all up, times 10, with GROWTH, more than ever before."
