Elon Musk makes dramatic vow as megabill looms: 'Country needs an alternative'

Tech billionaire and former "first buddy" Elon Musk vowed Monday afternoon to form a new party to take on Democrats and Republicans as he escalates his public feud with President Donald Trump over the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act."

Musk continued his public meltdown over the president's signature legislation, pledging on his X platform, "If this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day."

"Our country needs an alternative to the Democrat-Republican uniparty so that the people actually have a VOICE," said Musk.

His comments come as Musk escalates his threats against members of the Republican Party who move forward with the president's agenda on tax cuts.

Musk previously called the megabill an "abomination," and the GOP lawmakers considering it the "Porky Pig Party." He also made clear on his X platform earlier in the day that any lawmaker voting in favor of it would face his deep pockets in their next primary election.

"Every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame!" wrote Musk. "And they will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth."
