'He’s a rhinoceros sir': MAGA loyalists rage at Trump for backing GOP rep

MAGA fans were none too happy Thursday evening as President Donald Trump endorsed a Republican Congressman often criticized by his own party for not being sufficiently conservative.

Trump addressed Minnesotans to give a full-throated endorsement of Rep. Tom Emmer (R-MN).

"Minnesota: You have a GREAT Congressman in Tom Emmer. As Majority Whip, he was instrumental in helping us get the 'ONE BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL ACT,' the BIGGEST OF ITS KIND ever approved in Congress. He is a fantastic guy with a fabulous wife Jacqueline and family. Thank you to Tom Emmer and family!" Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

Emmer and Trump have not always been cozy.

When Emmer was nominated for Speaker of the House in 2023, Trump publicly denounced him, calling the lawmaker “totally out-of-touch with Republican Voters” and a “Globalist RINO,” an acronym for Republican In Name Only.

And some MAGA acolytes weren't as bullish on Emmer despite Trump's post.Post

X user Ellen Davis chided on X in response to the news, "Politics. He has no choice.Emmer should be primaried."

"Emmer sucks as a whip," railed Truth Social user File001, who's profile reads, "NEVER Let The Filthy Commies Make You Miserable."

Fellow Truth Social commenter #IStandWithPresidentTrump tried to school Trump on Emmer, writing "He’s a rhinoceros sir. Emmer is up for election next year. Mn would like him to face primaries."

Mary Wright, whose X profile features two photos of Trump, hit back at the official Trump War Room account for sharing the news, writing, "Minnesota f---ing hates Tom Emmer f---ing sellout."

And fellow user Margaret simply replied to Trump's post by hurling his words back at him.

"'Voting for a Globalist RINO like Tom Emmer would be a tragic mistake!' ~ Donald Trump," she wrote.
