The Philadelphia Eagles signed veteran DE Za'Darius Smith, 32, and placed fullback Ben VanSumeren (knee) on injured reserve. Smith spent time with the Cleveland Browns and Detroit Lions last season, posting nine combined sacks, 17 quarterback hits.
