I don't know what this mass hysteria was all about, but if you suddenly see another "I gonna giveaway (name of item) for your Steam Awards", remember:

Users who receive a Steam Award will receive this credit in a few days, not earlier.
Users who receive a Steam Award will not see WHO sent them the award — only the material on Steam WHICH it was awarded.
