‘Strange situation’ in Secret Service shake-up flagged by analyst: ‘There has to be more’

Three Secret Service officials were escorted from their offices, stripped of their security clearances and denied access to their work devices, according to political commentator David Pakman, who believes “there has to be more to the story.”

”We don't even know yet what they're accused of doing,” Pakman said Thursday on the “David Pakman Show.” “It seems they're accused of doing something pretty serious, but we don't know what.”

Pakman identified one of the officials as Anthony Guglielmi, the agency’s communications director, and said all three had been placed on leave pending an investigation into potential misconduct. The agency has not disclosed what they allegedly did.

The suspensions came as FBI Director Kash Patel was reportedly searching for whoever leaked details of President Donald Trump’s clandestine departure from Turkey following a NATO summit.

That moment came last month when Trump boarded Air Force One in public before secretly slipping into an airport catering truck and then being transferred to a smaller military aircraft amid a potential Iranian assassination plot, according to media reports.

Pakman, however, told listeners of his progressive YouTube show that there is not yet proof connecting the suspensions to that leak investigation.

“Maybe the two things are ultimately not connected. Or maybe they are,” Pakman said. “We don't know yet, but there is clearly a big story unfolding inside this agency.”

Pakman added that while legitimate leaks involving presidential security could endanger lives, he questioned whether the administration was instead focused on punishing disclosures it found embarrassing.

“What exactly is the Trump administration trying to find? he asked. “And are they even looking in the right places?”

Pakman concluded that the unexplained shake-up could threaten the agency’s purpose.

“There is no institution under Trump, no government agency under Trump that is immune from chaos,” he said, adding, “The chaos simply follows Trump absolutely everywhere.”
