'Dumpster fire of hate' hits key Trump ally with massive profit loss: CNN's Jim Acosta
A key ally of President-elect Donald Trump's is witnessing a mass exodus from what one CNN anchor described as a "dumpster fire" of "hatred and bile" on X.
CNN host Jim Acosta on Friday linked X's 80 percent plummet in value under Elon Musk to the Trump ally's promotion of far-right propaganda he described as unpleasant at best.
"It is a dumpster fire right now of hatred and bile," Acosta said. "It just looks like it is designed in a way to sort of pump right wing propaganda into your face."
Celebrities such as Flava Flav, Barbra Streisand and Lizzo have fled X in recent weeks in favor of the social media platform Bluesky, Acosta reported. It's a financial hit to the platform that Musk bought for $44 billion.
New York Times media reporter Bill Carter argued that a portion of those who have fled X did so because they were fed up with Musk.
"They don't like the idea that he's basically turned the place into a megaphone for one particular party," Carter said. "All of a sudden it was filled with people who are shouting at you."

Carter also argued users were choosing Bluesky over Threads, which belongs to Mark Zuckerberg's Meta, because they were tired of engaging with what he described as a "big billionaire's toy."
Acosta admitted he had made the switch to Bluesky and found it "very refreshing" not to be slammed with angry comments on every post.
"We can't really emphasize this enough, X has just become ridiculous," Acosta said. "It's pretty remarkable, the transformation from what Twitter used to be."
Carter noted Musk actively courted the extremism that Twitter avoided by allowing banned white supremacists such as Laura Loomer and neo-Nazis such as Andrew Anglin to return.
"If you speak up and say something that is opinionated in that way, you will get assaulted by these ugly comments," Carter said. "Why would anybody expose themselves to that if they could avoid it?"
