Ex-GOP lawmaker trolls 'Vice President Trump': 'President Elon' is actually in charge

Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) trolled President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday as he weighed in on the politics surrounding the collapse of the House spending bill – and made clear who he thinks will really be in charge of the federal government when Trump returns to the White House.

Kinzinger said Wednesday’s derailment of the temporary spending bill made clear what the next four years of “President Elon” – backed by “Vice President Trump” – will look like.

“First off, I’d like to say thank the lord God that I am not in Congress anymore,” a clearly exasperated Kinzinger said Wednesday during an interview on CNN. “I know this game, they always play this like Christmas deadline stupid game.”

He continued: “But look, President Musk this morning made it clear with all his vast government experience – which is basically he became rich on the federal government – that he doesn't want Republicans to pass this, and seemingly Vice President Trump kind of backed him up then at that point."

The former lawmaker added that what the episode says about the state of our politics is: “This is going to be a messy four years.” Kinzinger said he doesn’t think the government will ultimately shut down because his former colleagues in Washington “want to get home for Christmas.”

“They'll do like a one-month CR pretending like that's going to fix everything,” he said about a continuing resolution. “But yeah, I mean, I think President Elon has made it clear what his agenda is going to be for the next four years.”
